Study like it is part of the job

Take ownership of your learning at work. Ask your manager which procedures, tools, and skills your current tasks require, and agree on time to study them alongside your assignments.

We strongly recommend that you have a lifelong learning approach that builds study into your work week. If you do so, you will remain up to date and relevant.

Give each study session a specific aim, such as learning a procedure or deeply reviewing the work of a more experienced colleague.

After studying, use approaches like active processing or spaced repetition. Also try explaining it to a colleague or create a short presentation.

Return another day with a different example. Ask someone experienced to observe and correct your practice. Use required procedures and checklists during the actual work.
